Launching a lantern on the water at the end of the Obon Festival

Kurume floating lantern festival (Fukuoka) is held every year on August 15. Approximately 3,000 lanterns are floated down the Chikugo River in memory of the deceased. The names of the deceased and family members are written on the lanterns, as well as messages to the deceased.

The lanterns flowing down the river at night are beautiful.
